Royal Rabbits of London is an amazing little tale of adventure, bravery and the little guy finding his place in the world. It is written for an audience from 7 years old and it’s something that will appeal to a wide range of children. I managed to read it cover to cover today but wouldn’t expect that of children, I think it would make a great bedtime chapter book.
Santa and Simon Sebag Montefiore are both best-selling authors and thanks to inspiration from their children they have now turned their hand to a series for children. A series filled with adventure and talking animals that combines a lot of real world elements with a completely fantastical underworld of protective rabbits, and explains WHY the rabbits are dedicated to protecting the English Royals.
As an adult, I loved this story for its references to King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table; the Ratzi, who remind me an awful lot of the paparazzi; the secret rabbit society dedicated to protecting the Royals; the dangerous dog Pack who were definitely not what I expected and the little rabbit who has always been teased for being small and scrawny and slow yet is brave enough to face all sorts of danger to save the Queen.
The origins of the Royal Rabbits go right back to the time of King Arthur so the story will appeal to little history lovers, adventure lovers and animal lovers. I found the story to have a real Three Musketeers feel, as well as being reminiscent of Fantastic Mr Fox and Watership Down.
A great hit for the whole family which I look forward to reading with my children, or even having them read it to me. This is the first book in what looks like becoming a popular series.
My blurb went missing… so now I have to bring you a new one. One that is a little broader too.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years I have broadened my horizons considerably.
I inhale music, hair metal that satisfies my inner bogan is where my musical passion lies, but again I’ve been exposed to lots of different music I wouldn’t normally listen to and have broadened those horizons also.
In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews.
Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS! Reading, writing, speaking, listening – if it’s got words I’m there!
